Configuring Blueprint Actions


Blueprint Actions are used to define the print operations which occurs when using Blueprint Quick Buttons or Autoprinting messages. You can control printing the message, specific attachment types or both. This section will describe how to configure Blueprint Actions.



Action Display Name

The Blueprint Action Display name is only configurable for use with Autoprinting. For Quick Buttons, this value will be read only.


Configuring Item Printing

Item printing allow to configure a single print template to be used for the print job.

To enable Item Printing, click the 'Enable Item Printing' check box. For ease of use, you can either select a standard outlook style print layout, or specify your our custom Blueprint layout.

Note. The default location for the example templates delivered with Blueprint for Outlook is:

[Program Files]\Savvisoft\Blueprint for Outlook\Templates

You can also configure further default print settings for the Print job:

Print Options...

Print Options will allow you to configure what message content is printed out.

Page RangeDescription

Threaded ResponsesPrint the most recent response and up to latest 3 messages in a long email correspondence *
PagesSpecify the Page Range to print. E.g. Print the first page.

* Note. A Message does not actually contain defined threaded history (only message content). Blueprint will attempt to autoselect the first message in a threaded message by locating common message separators. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that this will always select the desired content - In this event, the Blueprint 'Print Selection' button will allow you to manually select the desired content.

Page Setup...

The Page Setup options provides a convenient way to configure the further page settings for the specified Template.

You can configure trhe Print Orientation and the Page margins. If you are using a custom template which contains Headers or Footers including a logo, you can use the Top and Bottom settings to increase the margin provided to the Header/Footer. This will ensure that the logo does not obscure the main body of the message.

Note. The Page Setup options are stored against the template, not the Blueprint action.


Configuring Attachment Printing

Attachment printing allow to configure which attachments should be printed as part of the Blueprint Action.

To enable Attachment Printing, click the 'Enable Attachment Printing' check box.

You can choose whether the print all attachments, specified attachment types, or specify the attachment types to not print. When specifying attachment types, you will define all attachment extensions, separated by semi-colon (;). For example:

Note. When Printing attachments, Blueprint will send a Print operation to the application handling each filetype. Because of this, Blueprint cannot guarantee that an application is available to print the file, or the application will perform the print operation silently (I.e. for use with Autoprinting)

Note. By specifying attachment types in conjunction with the Quick Buttons option Display Blueprint Quickprint Attachment Dialog, the displayed attachment types will be filtered by these settings.
